Water Damage Emergency Plan

Avoid water damage caused by breaks or leaks in pipes or valves in the home.  Every person in the family should know where to turn off the water in case of emergency.  In case of an extensive burst pipe in the house, fast action by someone who knows where the MAIN SHUT OFF VALVE is located may prevent excessive damage.  If you are unable to locate your emergency valve, call 562 866-9980 and we will assist in its location.

If your water bills seem high, "Look" to your water use.   Have your use habits changed?  Do you have water leaks?  Only you can control your water bill.  STOP THE LEAK.  More often than not leaks are the silent unseen culprits.  Your water bill covers approximately a 60 day billing period.  You are billed in units of water. One unit equals 750 gallons of water.  You are billed $1.50 for each unit or approximately, .002 cents per gallon or 2 cents for every 10 gallons.

SO HOW CAN MY BILL BE SO HIGH?

The average person uses very close to 200 gallons of water each and every day, 60 day X 200 gallons = 12,000 gallons = 16 units of water per person in a billing period.  This normally does not take into consideration--car washing--heavy lawn watering--extra laundry--poor use habits and or leaks.

HOW CAN THAT BE!

To give you an example:   Leaking toilets are real serious unseen silent leaks.  If your toilet cycles on and off several times during the day and night this could be a start of a serious leak.   It is often not paid much attention to, but each time it cycles 7.50 gallons is wasted.  Toilets often run constantly at 1 or 2 gallons a minute and not noticed.   A toilet running at that rate can cost you an additional $345.00 on your water bill.  Lets say the leak is 2 gallons a minute X 1,440 (minutes in 24 Hrs)= 2,880gallons a day X 60 days in a billing period = 172,800 gallons divided by 750 gallons in a billing unit = 230 units of unseen wasted water, but wait, here comes the hard part.   Each unit used is billed at $1.50 = $345.00 above your normal bill.  So you can see how even a part time leaking toilet may run your water bill through the roof!
