Bellflower, CA – As part of its commitment to providing high-quality water service, Bellflower-Somerset Mutual Water Company (BSMWC) is offering alternative billing arrangements to help shareholders avoid disconnection of service for non-payment.
“As a provider of a vital public service, part of our duty is helping our shareholders when we can,” said General Manager Steve Lenton. “Sometimes there are circumstances that interfere with the ability to be timely with payments, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Shareholders are encouraged to contact BSMWC to make arrangements that will allow them additional time to settle their balance over 12 months and avoid a water shutoff.
A pandemic-related state moratorium on utility late fees and service disconnections for non-payment expired on December 31, 2021. BSMWC has returned to its existing policy on residential water shutoffs for non-payment after 60 days. The policy, based on Senate Bill 998, the state’s Water Shutoff Protection Act, is available for review at www.BSMWC.com.
